Sun Il Kim is a distinguished Professor currently holding the positions of Chairman of the Department of Urology and Chief of the Department of Urology at Ajou University School of Medicine and Ajou University Hospital, Suwon, Korea, respectively. He is also Director of the Robotic Surgery Center at Ajou University Hospital.

Professor Kim’s academic journey began at Yonsei University College of Medicine, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree from March 1986 to February 1992. Throughout his career, he received training in urology, including residencies, fellowships, and visiting positions at renowned medical institutions such as Yonsei University Hospital, Hanyang University Hospital, Nagoya University Hospital, and the University of California, Davis.

Professor Kim has been an integral part of Ajou University School of Medicine, progressing from Assistant Professor to his current position as Professor. Over the years, he has actively contributed to the Korean Urological Association, holding positions such as Councilor (Mar 2017 – Present), Vice President of the Korean Urological Oncology Society (Jan 2021 – Dec 2022), and Director of the Korean Prostate Society (Mar 2009 – Present). He was elected President of the Korean Urological Oncology Society in 2022 and is currently holding this position.

In addition to his academic and administrative roles, Professor Kim has been involved in various clinical trials and has an extensive list of peer-reviewed articles published in international and Korean journals. His research contributions cover diverse topics in urology, including bladder cancer, prostate cancer, renal cell carcinoma and benign prostatic hyperplasia. Professor Kim’s dedication to advancing urological knowledge and his leadership roles in professional organizations underscore his commitment to the field.
