I am an urooncological surgeon. I am interested in minimal invasive surgery and quality of life in patients with urological cancer. While I am an expert of robotic surgery in prostate and kidney cancer, I have been leading many clinical trials funded by pharmaceutical companies and translational research funded by Korean government (National Research Fund) as a principal investigator.
Currently, I serve as the director of the Robotic Urology Section (KORUS) within the Korean Society of Endourology & Robotics (KSER). I also serve as a member of the Council of Korean Urological Association (KUA). In the KSER, I served as Secretary General (2021-2022), Director of the Public Relations Committee (2023- 2024). I also have served as a reviewer of National Research Foundation of Korea for various research as well as an executive director/active member of many international academic societies (KUA, KSER, AUA, EAU, SIU, ES, AACR, ASCO, and ESMO, etc.).
I graduated from Seoul National University, College of Medicine (MD, Feb, 2001), and received PhD degree (June, 2009) at University of Ulsan College of Medicine, Asan Medical Center, Seoul, Korea. After finishing internship, residentship and 2-year fellowship (urooncology and endourology) at the Department of Urology, Asan Medical Center, Seoul, I have been working at the Eulji Medical Center as a professor since March 2009. I also worked as a visiting professor at the Department of Urology, UC San Diego, Moores Cancer Center, CA, USA (Mar 2016 – Feb 2017) for prostate cancer research.
