Alejandro Sanchez

MD, PhD

Dr. Alejandro Sanchez, originally from Cali, Colombia, serves as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Urology at the University of Utah School of Medicine. He is an investigator at the Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI), where he heads the von Hippel-Lindau and High-Risk Renal Cancer Clinic. Dr. Sanchez obtained his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and underwent urologic surgery training at Massachusetts General Hospital. Following this, Dr. Sanchez completed a urologic oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, earning the Chairman’s Award for Excellence in Basic Science and a Young Investigator Award from the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Currently, he leads a translational kidney cancer research program, funded by the NIH Early Surgeon-Scientist Program.
