Yutaro Sasaki, M.D., Ph.D., is an assistant professor in the Department of Urology at Tokushima University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. His clinical and research focus is on the development of novel surgical techniques and medical devices considering minimally invasive surgery in robot-assisted surgery and laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Sasaki obtained his medical license after graduating from Tokushima University in 2010. He became a urologist in 2012 and continued his training in urological surgery, including robot-assisted surgery, at hospitals across Japan. In 2021, he completed a thesis on the importance of the patient-side surgeon in robot-assisted surgery and subsequently received his Ph.D. He is actively engaged in the development of medical devices and has released several products to the market. He actively utilizes fresh cadavers in developing novel surgical techniques and medical devices. Currently, he is dedicated to promoting the adoption of the made-in-Japan robot-assisted surgical system “Hinotori”.
